SCREENSHOT STUDY

Good ideas,
beautifully kept.

Help with collecting screenshots, organising chapters and making a book you can use.

Start with the field guide

Open Library → Experience settings → Capture-to-book guide. You can replay the guide without changing your library. The original sample collection lets you try the tools before importing personal material.

How do I capture screenshots?

Use your device’s screenshot buttons, then import the saved image. Screenshot Study does not automatically capture other applications. On a Face ID iPhone, press Side and Volume Up together, then release. The in-app guide covers Home-button devices and iPad too.

How do I bring in older screenshots?

Choose Add screenshots → Find recent screenshots. Each scan collects up to 40 accessible images you have not already imported. Repeat for older batches. If images are missing, check Photos access in device Settings or choose them individually with Choose from Photos.

Can I migrate from another app?

Save that app’s images to Photos or Files, then import those images. You can transfer image files between devices with AirDrop or iCloud Drive. Arbitrary PDF files and other apps’ editable project files are not supported imports.

How do I organise and edit?

Select screenshots in Library and tap Make a book. Name it and choose a cover. Inside a project, add or rename chapters and drag pages or use their move controls. Open a page to highlight, draw, mask, crop, rotate or correct recognised text. Tap Save to keep edits.

What does masking protect?

Exported pages contain opaque masks and no searchable text beneath them. Originals stay available inside the app for reversible editing. Previously shared files are not updated when you add a mask: create a fresh export and check it before sharing.

Where is my book saved?

Your personal editable projects save in the app and sync through private iCloud storage to devices using the same Apple Account. Samples stay local. Preview my book → Save study book creates a checked PDF on this device. Save PDF to Files creates a separate copy in the folder you choose. A PDF is a finished document, not an editable project backup.

How do I use iCloud on another device?

Sign in to the same Apple Account on both devices and allow Screenshot Study in iCloud Settings. In the app, open Your experience → Project sync to see pending changes, retry a connection or read storage errors. Your personal screenshots, originals, notes, edits and chapters sync automatically when iCloud is available. Generated PDFs can be recreated on either device. Offline edits wait safely on that device; check sync has completed before removing the app. If storage is full, free space in your iCloud account and tap Sync now.

How do I print?

After saving a book, choose Print book. Use the system print options to select a compatible AirPrint printer, copies and page range. A printer must be reachable from the device. The app does not send a print job until you confirm it in the system dialog.

Why are chapter suggestions unavailable?

They require a compatible device, a supported system version and Apple Intelligence with its on-device model ready. The app explains the current availability. Manual chapters, annotation and export remain usable without suggestions.

Delete or rename material

Press and hold a screenshot for its deletion menu, or select several and use the trash button. Press and hold a book in Projects to rename or delete it. Deleting a project keeps the library images. Saved or shared copies elsewhere are separate.

Accessibility and feedback

The app offers larger system text, VoiceOver labels, reduced motion, appearance choices and optional sound and haptics. Move controls provide an alternative to dragging. If a control is hard to reach or understand, tell us the screen, your device and the accessibility setting you use so we can investigate.
